Konica Minolta is a "leader in advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop", or at least that is what the blurb on their websites says. But in all seriousness, it's fair to point out that although this article is about their multifunction printers, Konica Minolta do offer a broad range of imaging solutions. You have almost certainly used one of their photocopiers or printers at some point in your life without even noticing.
Perhaps better known for some of their high-end products, Konica Minolta have recently launched a new range of Magicolor printers aimed at personal and home office users and it's the all-in-one models which are the subject of this article.
The Magicolor 1680MF multifunction printer is the entry level all in one model. It's a 3 in one actually, featuring color printing, copying and scanning all in a reasonably small and neat package. It's designed as a color desktop laser printer with scanning and copying included. Although it handles a fairly wide range of print media (envelopes, etc), it's mainly intended for use with plain paper.
If you're looking faxing capability, have a look at the Magicolor 1690MF. It extends the functionality of the 1680MF by including a fax machine. With the 1690MF all in one, you also get network connectivity as well as the USB 2.0 interface offered by the 1680MF. Add to this an automatic document feeder, scan to email function and increased paper capacity and you have the makings of quite a capable home office or small workgroup imaging device.
More on the Konica Minolta Magicolor all in one printer range is still to come...
